7” Color LCD Touchscreen
The Continental M8 offers a large, color HD 7" touchscreen; having a screen this size is like working off of your personal tablet. The advanced touchscreen shows all the information you need to sew with ease. Select new stitches and memorize your favorites for quick access. The expanded Sewing Applications feature gives you guidance for perfecting various sewing tasks, including those that use optional accessories.
400 Built-in Stitches
Customize, resize, combine, and save the 400 built-in stitches on the Continental M8. The large LCD touchscreen makes editing easy, and you can make combinations up to 100 stitches long. This machine offers a range of stitches, including utility, applique, heirloom, quilting, decorative, pictograph, and more! Most of them can even be flipped, mirrored, or tapered. Store the stitches in the built-in 3MB memory banks or on a USB drive right from the machine.
Stitch Composer
You can never have too many stitches! Even though the M8 has 400 built-in stitches, you can use the unique Stitch Composer™ program to create your own stitch patterns from scratch! The program is easy to use, and transferring stitches to your machine using the built-in USB port is a piece of cake.
1300 Stitches Per Minute
The Continental M8 can knock out projects in no time at all! It has a DC brushless motor that puts out 1300 stitches per minute while still giving you the strength and stability you require. This machine has a full metal frame that keeps vibrations to a minimum, so you get neater stitches and a smooth, high-performance sewing experience.
Variable Zigzag
The Continental M8 includes an excellent tool for creativity: the variable zig zag. This feature enables precision control over the stitch width via the (optional) knee lift! Thread painters will delight in the ease of control of the stitch width. Begin with a straight stitch, then while the machine is still running, press against the knee lifter to widen your stitch to a 9mm zigzag—release pressure to gradually return to a straight stitch for a tapered finish. Don't want a 9mm stitch? You can easily control the maximum width of the stitch setting in the machine's set mode. This advanced control opens up fantastic possibilities for creative expression with free motion quilting, thread painting, raw edge appliqué, free motion monogramming, and more.
Convenience at a Touch
Get the most out of your time with the convenience of one-touch buttons perfectly placed for effortless access: start/stop, reverse, lockstitch, needle up/down, thread cutter, and presser foot lift. With these buttons, you can raise or lower the needle, prevent your stitches from coming undone, use them in place of a foot control, and much more.
91 Needle Positions
This machine offers 91 needle positions. All these options allow for more detail in decorative stitches and incredible fine adjustments in all stitch creations. You can drop the needle in the perfect spot! And with the 9mm stitch width, this sort of bold detail can be easily appreciated.
Optical Bobbin Monitoring System
For everyone who has sewn a long seam only to find that your bobbin thread ran out after the first few inches, Janome's advanced Optical Bobbin Monitoring System is for you. This technology allows the M8 to constantly monitor your bobbin thread supply while sewing so that you will receive a warning as soon as the bobbin thread gets low, not when it's too late at the end of your seam.
Computerized One-Touch Needle Plate
Changing out your needle plate has never been easier! The needle plate automatically lifts up by simply pressing a button on your screen for easy removal. There is no need to snap the replacement needle plate in, as the newly designed computerized needle plate system quickly falls into place. And, since the M8 comes with two-needle plates, changing them out for the proper application is a breeze.
Drop Feed
Janome's M8 has an on-screen key that automatically lowers the feed dogs so you can quickly switch to free-motion quilting.
Knee Lifter
Using the optional knee lifter, you can raise and lower the presser foot with your knee, leaving both hands free to handle the fabric.
SFS-i, Feed System
The SFS-i, intelligent feed system, is designed to keep the feed dogs down and out of the way so that you can easily position your fabric. As soon as you start sewing, the feed dogs come up and grab the fabric.
1-step Buttonhole
This machine includes an automatic buttonhole foot with a stabilizer plate as well as a button sewing foot so you can easily sew any of the 12 one-step buttonholes your machine offers.
Extra-High Presser Foot Lift
When you need extra space to sew thicker fabrics, Janome's M8 has you covered. It features an extra-high presser foot lift. This additional space makes it easier to sew multilayer projects, so there is no more struggling to fit thick fabrics like denim and fleece under your presser foot. You can raise the presser foot about 6mm (1/4˝) higher than the normal up position by exerting more pressure when lifting the presser foot or knee lifter. It also allows for easy changes of the needle plates.
Superior Needle Threader V2
Threading your needle just got easier! The superior design of the built-in needle threader ends the task of threading your needle by hand. This time-saving feature allows you to get sewing faster. Its advanced design feeds the thread through the eye of the needle with precise accuracy every time.
Optional AcuFeed Flex
Janome's optional AcuFeed Layered Fabric Feeding System has long been legendary in the sewing and quilting world for its exceptional precision and power. The system is still removable, but adding and removing it from the machine has become more advanced, adding another layer of reliability and control. After attaching the AcuFeed foot, touch the AcuFeed icon on your screen to engage or disengage the dedicated motor explicitly designed for this feature! Use this system for quilting, seaming, and traditional sewing. Janome's special one-pronged AcuFeed™ feet give precise control for more detailed work, like installing zippers and matching seams.
Quilt Block Advisor

Stitch Tapering Function
Create original designs for borders and decorative effects with the Stitch Tapering Function. This distinctive feature allows you to adjust stitches at 30, 45, 90, and 120 angles to combine and edit built-in stitches. You can taper the beginning and end of the decorative stitch patterns to create sharp corners and points. Tapered stitches can be used with over 40 of the built-in stitches.
A.S.R. (Accurate Stitch Regulator)
The Accurate Stitch Regulator comes as a standard accessory with the M8, including four presser feet encompassing an array of free-motion techniques and ruler work. This ingenious system adjusts to the speed of the fabric's movement, making free-motion stitching and quilting effortless.
Ruler Work Mode
Expand your quilting options and take advantage of the vast array of precision templates on the market for ruler-guided quilting. Engage the Ruler Work foot (QR) to follow along the guiding edge of precision cut templates safely. Achieve beautiful and consistent quilting results previously only available to longarm quilters. AcuSpark 2
Janome's Continental M8 Professional Sewing and Quilting Machine is one of the few machines on the market that offers users an app to learn about every stitch, feature, presser foot, helpful tips, and more. Using the App's QR scanner feature, the AcuSpark2 App will provide instructions, tips, inspiring new ideas, and how-to videos corresponding to the information displayed on the M8's screen for any setting or stitch selection. AcuSpark2's content can also be accessed without a sewing machine. Apple and Android users can access the app, but Apple users need iOS 10.0 or later, while Android users need 5.0 and up.
25-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
Janome America, Inc. will ensure your machine's performance for 25 years from the time the machine is purchased. Coverage is limited to repair or necessary replacement of parts caused by defects in quality and materials. Faults in electrical components will be for five years. One year of free labor by an Authorized Janome Retailer is included, usually by the dealership where you purchased your machine.
