It's a two-needle machine with 2, 3, or 4-thread overlock stitching and differential feed that allows you to create perfectly finished edges on garments. An easy-to-follow color-coded threading chart is also included. Convert your HD4BE into a rolled hem machine in seconds without changing the needle plate. With its compact design, you can easily store this machine or take it to sewing classes and crafting get-togethers. The HD4 Black Edition allows you to cut, seam, and finish all in one step for a professional result every time.
ADJUSTABLE FOOT PRESSURE
Take control over the pressure exerted on your fabric with Janome's HD4BE adjustable pressure function, allowing you to choose how high or low you want the pressure setting to be. You can fine-tune it to match the material you are feeding through the machine. Appropriate presser foot pressure will result in more precise, professional-looking seams! Turn the dial clockwise for heavyweight fabric and counterclockwise for lightweight materials.
Adjustable Cutting Width
To get the perfect loops, you may have to adjust both the cutting width and the tension of the looper threads. Changing the cutting width affects how close your cut edge of the fabric is to the needles, affecting how your stitches look. The adjustable cutting width is handy when working with very thick or thin fabrics, decorative stitches, and more. With the HD4BE, your edges can be finished at any width between 3.1mm and 7.3mm.
ADJUSTABLE DIFFERENTIAL FEED & Stitch Length
Even with stretchy fabrics like knits and georgettes, you can easily create professional-level finishes by adjusting the differential feed. This feature allows you to fine-tune how the material is fed through your machine and helps to prevent puckering or distorting. It works by making the front and rear feed dogs move at different speeds. Set the dial to 1.0 for regular sewing, lower numbers for fine fabrics, and higher numbers for stretchy fabrics.
SIMPLIFIED ROLLED HEM CONVERSION
Convert to a rolled hem without hassle by using the easily accessible knife-disengaging knob and sitch finger switch. You'll never have to change your needle plate or remove the stitch finger yourself—meaning you won't have to worry about losing it.
STITCH CAPABILITIES
Finish garments using 4-thread seaming and 3-thread narrow or wide overlocking, narrow rolled hem, flatlock, and blind hemming. With so many stitches to choose from, your HD4BE can finish any garment or home decor item.
Thread Chart
Lay-in style thread tensions make it easy to thread the upper portion of the HD4BE, while a color-coded threading chart takes you step-by-step through threading the serger's lower half.
Color Coded Easy Tension Dials
Thread tension should be properly adjusted to suit the various types of work. The ideal tension setting for most fabrics and threads is between 3 and 5. However, this can vary quite considerably when specialty threads are used. The thread must move easily and without resistance through the looper's eye. It's recommended that you tune the dials by quarter or half number increments, then test sew and check the results.
